Stay home Ag-tivities GIVEAWAY
Traditionally, today would be a day of getting back to normal. Easter Sunday is usually filled with gatherings, egg hunts and Mass. Monday is generally a travel day with no school and back to the grind on Tuesday.
We celebrated a nice Easter at home, unlike our original plans. Last week was a spring break of sorts with a ‘stay-cation’ instead of going on a fun family vacation.
So today, it’s back to mama homeschool, trying to keep my kids occupied with educational activities and continuing to keep them learning. It’s has been a real challenge for me to come up with ideas to not just teach the kids something new but do it in a fun way to keep their attention.
Sure we have been provided with great lessons from their school and I had a few ideas myself. But after week three, I was searching for more.
Well I am happy to announce I partnered with some great organizations to fill you with endless agriculture activities while you’re home AND I am also hosting a GIVEAWAY with some of their great offerings. Giveaway runs from Tuesday, April 14- Friday, April 17
As a farmer, I love the idea of bringing agriculture into my home and centering activities around food or farming.
Lucky for us, there are so many great resources available. I am so glad these great organizations also offered to send some FREE goodies to lucky followers of mine! So head on over to Instagram for all the details of the giveaway.
First, I want to tell you about Agriculture in the Classroom. They have great
lesson plans for so many great fruits and vegetables that are grown right here in California. They have fun things like a tale of Peter Rabbit to read while gardening, as well as STEM lessons for bigger kids too. The folks over at Learn about Ag included a few seed packets with the GIVEAWAY so you can try your hand at a garden too!
They also offer a fun contest every year for students in California to write a story and draw pictures to help tell their unique story. I have a few copies I am including in my giveaway of the books from each year's entries.
Next, the Almond Board of California developed a fun short video about growing almonds and a great ‘Almond Story’ workbook to go along with it! Lucky for you, I have the workbooks for as many of you as want them! Email me your address and you can get a copy!
Can I tell you about American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture,
At Home Ag-tivities? There are endless online resources for activities and I love the Foundation for Ag website and this special section is full of fun activities. My kids and I love playing the Farm to Cart game and it is easy to print and play at home. It was super easy to do...just watch!
We worked on color recognition, taking turns, how crops grow and a friendly dose of competition.
There are so many other fun activities and games for all ages here too! It is easy to follow and breaks up everything by age and grade.
Finally, I wanted to include a few of our favorite farm books!
Jess Peters, who I met on Instagram, wrote this fun book of Farm nursery rhymes. And she was so gracious to sign a copy!
As part of an Almond Leadership Program, a female farmer wrote 'Almonds Shake, Sweep & Eat" -fun book on how almonds get from the tree to you!
And finally a favorite in our house and I had to include ‘Goodnight Tractor”
So head on over to my Instagram to enter the giveaway. Then check out all these links and enjoy some fun ag-tivities at home with the kiddos!
